Keeping the investment effort to provide the Container Terminal of Leixões with the best operational conditions, TCL just ordered to Eurocrane another panamax quay crane. The order consists of a yard crane as well, in a global investment of 8.2 million Euros. Both the equipments will be installed at the South Container Terminal, which will dispose of four quay cranes, of which three are panamax. The yard crane will be operational in January next year, but the quay crane will most likely operate in May 2012. With the third panamax crane, the productivity installed on the quay line will increase more than 20%, which will oblige to the reformulation of the terminal in order to avoid bottlenecks on the container flow. With this investment, TCL reaches almost 50 million Euros employed in the Container Terminal of Leixões since the beginning of the concession, in 2000. The concession financial model predicted an investment of 43-44 million Euros along 25 years.
