As forecasted, the port of Shanghai has become in 2010 the world’s biggest container port, upon handling more than 29 million TEU, while Singapore handled “only” 28.4 million TEU. “Lloyd’s List” has published the fact, and disclosed that Shanghai has also exceeded Singapore in terms of total cargo handled, having reached 650 million tons, against 502 million tons handled by Singapore. In Europe, the two biggest ports, Rotterdam and Antwerp, handled last year, respectively 11.1 and 8.5 million TEU.
