RECORD IN LEIXÕES ON THE FIRST QUARTER

On the first three months of the year, the Port of Leixões handled 4.17 million tons. 5% more than a year ago, the best record ever on the first quarter.
The increase on the containerized cargo was of great help to the figures. It raised 10% to 1.44 million tons. And it grew more than that, 11%, in number of TEU, enabling TCL to reach an accumulated of 137,460 TEU.
Liquid bulk increased 10% to 1.92 million tons. Break bulk increased 2% to close to 182 thousand tons. Solid bulk decreased 14% to 626 thousand tons.
Confirming the natural vocation of the Port of Leixões and of the northern region it serves, export were the main engine of the activity growth, with the cargo increasing 22% till close to 1.6 million tons.
