Representatives of the ports of Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde and S. Tomé e Príncipe attended the second conference of the cycle “The Port of Leixões and the Global Market”, promoted by APDL. The session, dedicated to the PALOP, a very important market to the Port of Leixões due to historical reasons, and also due to the actual volumes and the potential development it represents, enabled a knowledge trade between the Portuguese operators and agents of those countries, particularly the responsible persons for the respective port authorities. The idea of the quick evolution crossing the port-maritime sector was projected in every intervention of the invited countries. Other features like the availability, concern, and also the will of counting on the Portuguese operators in that effort of modernization and economic and social development were equally projected. Two collaboration protocols were signed during the meeting, involving the Port of Leixões: the first one with the port of Nacala, in Mozambique, and the second one with the ports of S. Tomé e Príncipe. The conference cycle “The Port of Leixões and the Global Market” is within the promotion and internationalization strategy of Leixões. TCL, in partnership with the port authority, has joined this action. After the sessions dedicated to Maghreb and PALOP, a conference dedicated to the Baltic countries will still be held this year. The cycle will close already in 2011, with the event dedicated to Brazil. |
