LEIXÕES WITH A RECORD OF 13 MILLION TONS UP TO SEPTEMBER 2013-10-23 The cargo movement at Leixões remains high, even considering that last year was a record year for the port. In the first nine months of the year, the Port of Leixões handled 13.2 million tons, representing an annual growth of 5.3% and a new record for the first three quarters. The containerized cargo, the second most important type of cargo in Leixões (only surpassed by liquid bulk), continues to give an important contribution to the business growth with a homolog advance of 2%, to 4.6 million tons. The movement of containers reached a record of 449,844 TEU. The liquid bulk cargo handled 6.3 million tons (over 10%), the solid bulk cargo reached 1.6 million tons (less 6%) and break bulk cargo 721,000 tons (over 17%). |
