LEIXÕES STARTED THE YEAR GROWING 11%

In January, the Port of Leixões handled 1.35 million tonnes of cargo, representing an annual growth of 11%.
The containerized cargo reached 509.5 thousand tonnes, surpassing by 3% the performed in the beginning of 2013.
The liquid bulk advanced 21%, to 542.1 thousand tonnes. Instead, the solid bulk decreased 2%, to 210.9 thousand tonnes.
With lower expression in the total cargo handled at Leixões, fractional general cargo rose 20%, to 64.6 thousand tonnes, and ro-ro cargo soared 732% up to 19.3 thousand tonnes.
Note that, in 2013, the Port of Leixões handled 17.2 million tonnes, setting a new record for the third consecutive year.
