LEIXÕES EXCEEDS 12.5 MILLION TONS UNTIL SEPTEMBER

On the first nine months of the year, the Port of Leixões handled 12.5 million tons, 4% more than in the corresponding period of 2011.
The containerized cargo was the one which grew more, reaching 4.5 million tons (an increase of 13%).
The container handling grew 16% having reached 438,245 TEU, cementing thus TCL’s leadership on the national ranking.
Between January and September, Leixões handled 5.7 million tons of liquid bulk (a corresponding increase of 7%), 1.7 million tons of solid bulk (16% less) and 12 thousand tons of ro-ro cargo (83% more).
In global terms, the loaded cargo increased 16% until 4.9 million tons, while unloaded goods stayed by 7.6 million tons (going back 3%).
