From the 1st January, export cargo will pay less port taxes in Leixões.
To help the recovery of the national economy and favor the competitiveness of the export companies, APDL decided on a decrease of 4% on the TUP Cargo applied to the loaded cargo.
Regarding the containerized cargo, TUP will decrease from 9.7333 Euros/TEU full actually charged to 9.2953 Euros/TEU.
Regarding the import TP tax, it will stay the same (9.73333 Euros/TEU with cargo).
It should also be noted the port taxes charged at loading and at the ships have been kept frozen since 2008, after the decision, on March 2009, of cancelling the increase already implemented by the port administration. In 2010, there was not any increase verified, as well.
The Port of Leixões is, however, the first national port to implement a generalized decrease of the TUP-Cargo taxes. The announcement happened precisely on the sequence of the month of October, when records of containerized cargo for export were registered.
