CONTAINERS SUSTAINED RECORD AT LEIXÕES
2014-07-30

The Port of Leixões handled 8.8 million tonnes in the first half. An annual increase of 4% to a new record.
Decisive to reach the new maximum was the record of the movement of containerized cargo: increased 8% compared to the first half of 2013 and reached 3.3 million tonnes.
TCL also registered the best first half ever, with the movement of 324,394 TEU, a gain of 10%.
Between January and June, Leixões moved further 3.8 million tonnes of liquid bulk (up 3% year on year), 1.1 million tonnes of dry bulk (about 11%) and 510 thousand tonnes of general fractional cargo (less 3%).
The ro-ro cargo grew 835% up to 172 thousand tonnes, which confers to Leixões the national leadership in this market segment. A success that TCL is also associated, since it operates ships of the main lines of ro-ro cargo calling Leixões.
